About myself and how Sinclair Design Studio began...I come from a family of teachers and artists and relatives that are proficient in both. My mother and father are retired school teachers and are still very creative. I remember distinctly the day my mother said, "Carla, you know people make a living out of designing typefaces, logos and laying out magazines, newspapers and everything we read." That notion must have stuck... I began my formal studies at Southwestern College in Winfield, KS and then completed my B.F.A. at Fort Hays State University in Hays, KS. My first job was as an airbrush artist with Art Carved Class Rings in Austin, TX. After several moves, jobs, and life-altering events, I resigned from the Art Director position in 1990 at the Orlando Naval Training Station (M.W.R. Dept.) to begin freelancing. This career move was primarily due to my "other" job - becoming a mother of my third child. Yet, opening my own studio was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I've been truly blessed to be able to work in my field, and at the same time, raise my children – Daniel (25), Matthew (21) and Sierra (19). The time has flown by...my children and business have grown! I still attend continuing education courses, seminars and on-line tutorials when possible. My industry has changed dramatically since the introduction of computers, however, I still like to pick up a paint brush every now and then. That is, when I'm not motorcycling, fishing, reading, gardening or simply enjoying my Creator's artwork. Read more about myself on Facebook.
